It's schools resumption week and I had to take my first kid to school, it was such an emotional moment for me as he will be living in school as boarder, I won't get to see my baby for a month as we are only allowed to visit them once in a month. Ironically the little dude was excited, his excitement was out of this world. He has been arranging his suitcase for close to a month and the suitcase sleeps on the bed with him...lol.
He'd ask all the silliest questions concerning living in school and I never failed to tell him what he should expect and emphasized the need to be an obedient student and cleanliness is next to Godliness.
DAY 1 IN SCHOOL.
First thing on monday morning we were at the school premises waiting to be welcomed by the school authority, my Lil dude got the warmest reception, it made me to shed an emotional tear. In a split second after we Were checked and certified ok to check him into the hostel my Lil dude was already mixing up with with his classmate's.
I've been so emotional for 2 nights now, I miss my Lil man, I miss his constant calling of mummy, I miss his house chore supervision, I miss him so much...sobs. I know i'm doing the right thing by allowing him to live in school, it'll teach him to be independent and learn to manage people around him and resources, it'll teach him to keep to time accurately and so much more.
Did you go to boarding house and what did it teach you?
It taught me 15 years old girls can be very devilish. It taught me to be independent , be very smart, it taught me good things only happen to people who go in search of it... Hope his school is a private school.

The "devilish" statement reminded me of a bitter encounter I had with an Akure girl in secondary school... it's a private school he is attending.

DeleteI went to an all girls school and the interaction with girls from different backgrounds was epic - so many different characters. However, I would not exchange my time in boarding house for all the gold in the world. He'll love it.

ReplyDeleteYes ooooo I went to boarding school. It taught me that if your sister was mean, they will deal with you in return. Am a living testimony but too bad for them, I was calm all thru and they got tired
ReplyDeleteIt taught me that to avoid those seniors sending you on errrand, when leaving the hostel in the morning, go with your house wear, find somewhere to change and don't come back till after prep class ahahahahaha that was sweet.
I remember those social nights, that we would have scrubbed our kito slippers menh it was hawwwwwt.
It taught me to be contented with what you have
It taught me self reliance. I loved school cos I dint grow up with my parents so I felt loved over there.
It taught me life, experiences and how wicked the socalled seniors could be. At times I thought they were witches cos I can't imagine how a 16 year old could be that mean?.
I enjoyed it and I wanna do it over and over again!!!!

DeleteI never went to boarding school. My elder sister want but spent only a year. With her complains they rushed her out! It was not a good experience for her at all.

DeleteI always wanted to be a boarder after being told boarding house stories, but I never was. My dad didn't want us to live in school but my mom wanted us to because she was a boarder. Now, even though I craved it so much back then, I don't think I'd want my children to go to boarding school maybe because I was a day student. I love boarding schools and boarders too, the students have this sense of independence and find it easier blending into the University and living on their own, while most day students spend the first semester being home sick.
