Ladies get in here, lets discuss hygiene.

Quote : It's as beautiful as a rose, think and see it that way.

Society has made our anatomy almost a taboo subject in the past. Thankfully that is slowly changing. You shouldn't be embarrassed about looking at your own vagina. Some girls are clueless about their vaginas, what the different parts do, what is ‘normal' and even the way it looks. Well there is no ‘normal' looking vagina; just like your face is different to almost everyone in the world. So let's get right to it and find out what makes a vagina actually is.
The vulva is the area of female sex organs that lies outside of the vagina. These organs include folds of sensitive tissue called the "labia" (labia means "lips"). There are two sets of labia. The outermost folds are called the labia majora. A second set of folds, called thelabia minora, is enclosed within the labia majora.

The vulva also contains the mounded area made by the pubic bone (mons pubis), a small, round organ(clitoris), and the openings of the vagina and urinary canal (urethra). The vagina is the passageway that extends from outside of the body to the uterus (womb).‎

Tips for vulva care.‎
 1. Use only warm water to wash the vulva. Dry
thoroughly with a clean towel. (If the vulva is very irritated, you can try drying it with a blow dryer set on cool.)

2.The vagina cleanses itself naturally in the form of normal, vaginal discharge. Avoid using douches unless prescribed by your physician. These products can upset the natural balance of organisms.‎

3. Wear only white, 100 percent cotton underwear. Avoid wearing nylon, acetate, or other manmade fibers.

4.Avoid wearing thongs.

5.Rinse underclothes carefully after washing. Or, double-rinse.‎

6.Wash new underclothes before wearing.

7.Use a mild soap ‎for washing underclothes. Do not use detergents  or fabric softeners (including dryer sheets.)

7.Use soft toilet tissue (white only).

8.Use sterile sanitary towels and not tissue paper.‎

9.Don't scratch.

10. Avoid wearing nylon pantyhose or panty girdles. They trap heat and moisture, providing an ideal breeding environment for organisms. When nylons or leggings are required, wear cotton or nylons with a cotton panty.

11. Avoid these feminine hygiene products, which can irritate the vulva: sanitary pads, feminine spray and deodorants, Vaseline‎, oils, greases, bubble baths, bath oils, talc, or powder.‎

‎Also note, the above care basically is for the outer parts of the female genital, its appalling many women are confused as to how the female hygiene should be, they don't even know much about their genitals and a great percentage of women don't even know the names of the beautiful parts.

What prompted me to make this post is because a lady above 30years with kids argued with me the vagina should not be washed(check above the location of the vagina if confused). She further argued its self cleansing and basically needs no washing. ‎

It got me thinking, those with this notion walk around with the rotten fish smell ‎in their privates? Well, again it could be STD's( that will be discussed in subsequent posts) . Please the vagina isn't self cleansing, gently deep your index and middle finger inside your vagina and wash with clean warm water during bathe and most especially after SEX m. Do not use soap! Its your vagina, don't be shy of washing, pampering and caring for it.

More will be discussed in subsequent posts such as; ‎identifying infections/ STD'S,  what you should know about use of certain foreign objects around and inside the vagina, the male hygiene( DH will lend a helping hand with that but any man willing to help is very welcomed) and lots more on caring for the privates.

    2. But you just condemned the washing of the vagina in your first post. Its either you didn't read where I differentiated between the vagina and the vulva or probably still confused.

You called the washing of vagina douching and mentioned its not healthy for women trying to conceive. So, when do you wash off seminal fluid 3days later or never? or how does remaining unused semen leaves your vagina without leaving the usual unique smell the semen has? I have been douching for long and I have kids.

Please I insist keep the vagina clean, wash off egg white cervical mucus, semen, period blood and normal vagina discharge.

  9. Naija mom, I've always used soap to wash the place because I can't imagine using ordinary water to wash. Is it dangerous to wash with soap? Thanks

    1. Yes please Alabekee, it is dangerous to wash with soap. The use of soap and sponge should be limited to your pubic hair area and in between your legs but not your vulva and vagina. Read my next post, if you notice any of those symptoms check with your Dr for treatment and discontinue the use of soap and change your entire undies collections. I hope this helped.
